About Jay Inslee

Jay Inslee Congressman Jay Inslee is a proponent of making America the world leader in clean energy technologies, which will create millions of family waged, high trained jobs for Americans. He is an outspoken advocate for moving the United States towards energy independence to avoid national security threats, and he is a tireless advocate for policies that address the threat of global warming.

Inslee is a cofounder of the Congressional Climate Change Caucus, and is a member of the Renewable Energy Caucus, and the Manufacturing Caucus. Some of his recent legislative efforts include his work to pass a national net metering and interconnection standard, incorporate renewable energy provisions into the Farm Bill, cosponsor of the Job Protection Act of 2003 which encourages domestic manufacturing using the tax code, co-introduce the Climate Stewardship Act of 2004 in the House of Representatives, and advance the New Apollo Energy Project amongst his colleagues in Congress.

Inslee graduate from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Economics, and from Willamatte University School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Jay Inslee has represented Washington State's First District in Congress since 1999. From 1992-1994 he represented Washington's 4th Congressional District, and served in the Washington State Legislature from 1988-1992. He is a member of the Committee on Resources and the Committee on Financial Services.
